2012 | Day 175: I'll be Your Angel

MOTIVATIONAL OF THE DAY

How Much DIFFERENCE We Make

Just because we are alive does not give us the right to live selfishly - well, we have that CHOICE, but it’s not our PURPOSE here. We are alive for a mission - our purpose is to help OTHERS become better, whether we do that through sharing our life’s story and message and experiences, or just aiding another with something they are new to, struggling with, need, and more.

We are here to help each other THROUGH life, so that we ALL become better than we were, moulded into the people we are MEANT to be, an ultimate version of ourselves.

When you speak or act, don’t do it to see what you can get out of a situation, but to see what you can GIVE to a situation. You may never know the full truth of anything, or how your interaction with those involved will change the course of events - if it does. Every word, every action, conscious and unconscious, has an impact, whether we know it or not. We may never see the results of that impact - it could be small or it could be great, but it is MADE; and once we have done something it cannot be UNdone.

Once you realize that life is not for living only for you, your whole perspective can CHANGE. Especially as you realize that living with a purpose makes a difference not only in others’ lives, but in YOURS as well.

To quote Rick Warren, “Living on purpose is the only way to really live. Everything else is just existing.”

Quote for Reflection:

TRAINING

HIIT Run:
a. 4 min jogging
b. 8 x 20 sec sprint/10 sec easy
c. 16 min jogging

Stretch 20 min

OTHER NOTES

Sleep: Went to bed just before 1930 last night (yes, I was THAT shattered!), sleeping deeply on and off right through (with a period between 2300-0045, when I was awake and up) until 0700 this morning. Definitely needed the sleep, but still felt exhausted on waking.

Energy: Not a lot today.

Quality of Training: Just a single [HIIT] session today. Feeling hamstrings - from Monday's training or riding my bike everywhere again. Body just exhausted during HIIT, feeling my lower legs being stressed - notice this on Monday on the treadmills, actually, so going to minimize treadmill usage henceforth. Just did less sprints today and continued on with some jogging.

Day 169: Nobody like Me!

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Only you can be you. God designed each of us so that there would be no duplication in the world. No one has the exact same mix of factors that make you unique...When God made you, he broke the mold. There never has been, and never will be, anybody exactly like you." - Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Life

TRAINING

Session 1

Cardio - Rollers:
20 min in 39x18 @ 100 rpm

Stretch 20 min.

Session 2

Cardio - Rollers:
20 min in 39x18 @ 100 rpm

COMMENTS

Sleep - Time and Quality: ~8 hours. When I woke, I was told that I looked "bright and fresh", like I was "about to smile any time". Sleep was good - deep and unbroken.

Mood/Aggression: In Chicago on Thursday I was asked several times if I was competing in the Junior Nationals, which was a little surprise. However, seeing some of the competitors, I know that I am on the right track, and I am finally confident in my ability to be able to take the stage in July as lean as I want to be, with the attitude and stage presence that I need and want to have!

Energy: Lots of restless energy!

Mental Focus and Clarity: Sorted the next four weeks out.

Quality of Training: Just an easy session on my rollers, with a second session later before I go to bed.

Recovery: DOMS in hips and calves from Thursday's photoshoot is even more pronounced than it was yesterday, far worse than what I would feel after the first day back training after a break!

Appetite: I'm four weeks out from competition and I have NOT started "dieting". I was looked at in surprise when I mentioned this, after being asked about my "diet" on Thursday, because pizza and ice-cream and eating "like a normal person" is NOT the norm for competitors. But, I'm NOT "the norm" either, and what I'm doing is WORKING for me! I am an example of there being NO "one size fits all", that there is no "should" in anything, and that everyone has a "best" way of doing things specifically for THEM to get results!

Body Composition and Look: The light downstairs and upstairs is different, and I look different in both of them. You can see the definition REALLY well downstairs in the darker light - arms, midsection, hips, and legs are really coming out. Honestly, this is the BEST AESTHETIC condition I have ever been in in my life to date - and I'm only going to get BETTER (as I get leaner)! I am determined to maintain close to ~8% bodyfat henceforth (i.e. about what I am now or leaner!) - once I have gotten as lean as I possibly can and competed, etc. And I CAN. I WILL. Especially now that I have determined what nutritional method/s and training regime works best for me right now (I say "now" because it may change in the future, and then I will do then what works best for me at that time).

Other Notes: My current bottle of Erase runs out on 29 June. My current bottle of Alpha-T2 runs out on 9 July. As much as I hate to, I am going to wait until 17 July (i.e. after my competition) until I resume them all again.

Day 161: Only One You

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES OF THE DAY

"Only you can be you...What I'm able to, God wants me to do. You are the only person on earth who can use your abilities. No one else can play your role, because they don't have the unique shape that God has given you...The abilities that you do have are a strong indicator of what God wants you to do with your life...God doesn't waste abilities; he matches our calling and our capabilities...When God made you, he broke the mold. There never has been, and never will be, anybody exactly like you." - Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Life

"I'm just that special." - Patrick, A.E.U. Enact mecha pilot, Mobile Suit Gundam 00: Celestial Being (Season 1, Episode 1)

Post-Weights Cardio - Rollers:
20 min in 39x18 @ 104 rpm

Stretch 20 min.

COMMENTS

Energy: Even MORE energy than I've had over the last few days, and that is saying SOMEthing!

Pump: Strong once got to Alternate Set C.

Vascularity: The best ever after my post-training shower and LipoBURN application.

Quality of Training: HIIT was AWESOME, the best ever, sprints were explosive, back to feeling like myself - the cooler weather definitely makes a HUGE difference for me! Resistance training was good. Rollers afterwards was meditation time.

Competition Notes: The focus of the next three weeks is just going to be on getting leaner, as lean as I can get. The two weeks after that I will use to make a concentrated effort on posing practice (honestly, I have done so little of this even up to now, and not having a facility to be able to practice in has made it a little harder as well, but I'm not too worried) and stage presence, opening myself up to relax and have fun, to just let the side that is often only seen in private out, so that I have no self consciousness on stage and can just be an infectious bundle of energy and "wow".

Day 158: HIS Glory, NOT Mine!

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES OF THE DAY

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Phillippians 4:13

"God...also wants to use our weaknesses for his glory...Your weaknesses are not an accident. God deliberately allowed them in your life for the purpose of demonstrating his power through you...God is never limited by our limitations. In fact, he enjoys putting his great power into ordinary containers." - Rick Warren

COMMENTS

Sleep - Time and Quality: ~8 hours. Interesting.

Mood/Aggression: Positive. Happy. In a really great place

Energy: Like you wouldn't believe!

Endurance: Awesome.

Pump: Strong.

Vascularity: Got told today that the vascularity in my upper chest and around collarbone has increased dramatically.

Quality of Training: Whew! Running outside in the midday heat - what was I thinking?! LOL But, it was only for a short distance, so managed, even if I had trouble breathing . . . Resistance training was pretty awesome. I felt a little nauseous half-way through, but pushed on and had a great session . . . Rollers afterwards to complete today's training . . .

Recovery: Amazingly fresh, which is awesome.

Other Notes: HIS glory, NOT mine! It's true that he uses your weaknesses to show His glory and power. I know He does with me, especially since one of my physiological weaknesses is one that is IMPOSSIBLE for me to change! Every time I went to see a hematologist, they tried to put me on EPO for my genetic blood disorder (my red blood cells can only carry TWO oxygen molecules instead of the usual FOUR), but I refused; and every time a doctor ever saw me, they were surprised that my sports performance was not hindered by my condition, one commenting that my TRAINING was compensating and "acting as EPO" for me, which is a small miracle, and one reason why I can NEVER STOP training if I want my body to continue to function "normally" re breathing. I am just one individual, full of flaws and weaknesses, but that hasn't stopped me from doing and achieving things I should "never" have been able to do! In fact, almost everything about how my body works, etc. is in opposition to what is "acceptable" and "should" happen. Like Rick Warren said, God demonstrates His power through us if we let Him!

Day 136: Trophy of Grace

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

"God wants to use your weaknesses, not just your strengths. If all people see are your strengths, they get discouraged and think, "Well, good for her, but I'll never be able to do that." But when they see God using you in spite of your weaknesses, it encourages them to think, "Maybe God can use me!"...At some point in your life you must decide whether you want to impress people or influence people...See yourself as a trophy of grace." - The Purpose Driven Life (Rick Warren)

COMMENTS

Sleep - Time and Quality: ~6 hours. Deep. Unbroken. For the first time in ages. Deep.

Mood/Aggression: I have been through a full spectrum re mood today. Calm and collected now, though, mind in a good place.

Energy: Used a scoop of Mesomorph today (instead of Assault). I definitely notice the difference using Geranium when I haven't for ages. Energy was great; no faltering today in the gym. Have not crashed yet, either (not likely to, either).

Mental Focus and Clarity: My head is back to racing at a million miles an hour! My mind is as clear and focused as it can get.

Stress: HIGH.

Endurance: Great!

Strength: This week's sessions, like the last couple of weeks, are not going to be about strength (so won't comment here this week).

Pump: EVERYWHERE!

Vascularity: More noticeable on the gold.

Quality of Training: HIIT was GREAT. Aside from the pain in my right side under right breast that has been there for the last week during this, I was back to form with my sprints, explosive and fast, feeling really good . . . Resistance session was good as well. My legs were suffering when I started - mostly from not having properly recovered from Saturday - and I had to sit down hard between alternate sets of Legs, my heart pounding, but it was worth it. There was no want-to-just-be-done-as-soon-as-possible today as there was last week, and I didn't look like the dead walking. Loved the way definition was looking in the mirror - even better than the weekend. Practiced posing between alternate sets too . . . Rollers was "recovery" afterwards . . .

Recovery: I woke up this morning in PAIN - like I did yesterday, still not recovered completely from Saturday (goes to show how intense it was and how demanding holding even a lighter weight for an extended period of time, and posing, can take a lot out of one). My legs and lower to mid back is what's killing me right now, but I'm used to it.

Body Composition and Look: Even though I may not be as "lean" as I was for my competition last October, I definitely LOOK it, and certainly look a LOT better than I did then. I am pleased with that - building that extra muscle mass in my deltoids and arms has been hard work for sure, but very rewarding. Here's to just getting leaner and leaner, overcoming obstacles life throws in my way, conquering my personal demons to achieve my goals!

Other Notes: I don't always put everything out there re my personal struggles and issues, but there is a lot about me that I have had to overcome, and the road has not been easy by any means. I am a Trophy of Grace, a living testament that God can make ANYthing possible, that no matter what weaknesses you have, whether they be physical, mental or something else, He can use them for good and shine His glory through you and use you to do great things, more than you could ever have dreamed of! As you submit to Him, life becomes something else altogether, a journey that just gets better and better, as you learn more about yourself and what you are capable of doing (like for the first time in my life, being able to see something of beauty, instead of the me that I see in my mind, catching a glimpse of the Rosie that perhaps others perceive - reflected in the image below, another "preview" from Saturday).

20 min in 39x18 @ 100 rpm

COMMENTS

Mood/Aggression: Smiles!

Energy: The body is an amazing thing - it will do anything that the mind tells it to.

Mental Focus and Clarity: My mind is on full idea-mode today, thoughts flowing

Endurance: Great.

Strength: Making strides re strength with Single-Arm DB Lateral Raises and Close-Grip BB Bicep Curls - pleased.

Pump: Not so much for the first resistance session. Strong during second resistance session.

Vascularity: Good - it's hanging around all the time now, like when I was using PES' AnaBeta-01.

Quality of Training: My first session was about completing what I didn't do yesterday - not a "catch up" session, since I already planned on doing TWO training blocks today. Run pre-weights was good - pace still staying reasonable. Resistance session was good - noticing physical changes (or maybe now that I am back to wearing tank tops instead of t-shirts I am just noticing it more?) re definition in upper body better than ever. Recovery on the rollers afterwards . . . Second session was good, even though I was close to being sick during my 1.5 miles. Feeling the burn in my abs during Superset A. Progressing with Superset B - adding more reps to Close-Grip BB Bicep Curls at a heavier weight, and getting back to an acceptable weight with Weighted Dips. Struggling as the session went on, my body really heated and at times light-headed, but pushing through. Finishing off with the rollers . . .

Recovery: The rollers after everything else is definitely making a difference, so I'm going to keep on with this.

Appetite: You have no idea how much I am looking forward to my post-training meal after my second session today!

Body Composition and Look: Rear delts are coming out well. In fact, the extra muscle mass and definition in my deltoids is one of the most noticeable physique changes I have made over the last few weeks.

April 3, 2011

Day 93: Purpose Is Focus

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Knowing your purpose simplifies your life. It defines what you do and what you don't do. Your purpose becomes the standard you use to evaluate which activities are essential and which aren't." - Rick Warren

TRAINING

Today is this week's Day OFF. I was and are tempted to do a light rollers' session, but are leashing myself, since rest and recovery is important to progress.

Since I have made my Day Off on a Sunday over the last three weeks, it will stay like that. I can get through the training week, no matter how hard.

COMMENTS

Sleep - Time and Quality: On and off for ~10 hours. Still very broken, perpetuated by that sharp and deep inner pain. Honestly, I think the reason I slept so long (and have some of the days this week) is not because of training, but because this pain seems to take so much out of me.

Mood/Aggression: Still on the UP

Energy: I don't have a lot of physical energy today (after being up and down all night/morning with the pain), which is ok, since it's not a training day today.

Mental Focus and Clarity: This is clear, though. Clear, concentrated, and FOCUSED!

Stress: High as ever, but my focus has SHIFTED.

Recovery: It's not training I am "recovering" from.

Body Composition and Look: 117 pounds at 10.6% bodyfat. A 1% bodyfat loss this week - AND that's with only single daily training sessions and every other day at HIGHER than Maintenance calories! The change is definitely noticeable. I am making some progress in getting my lower body mass down (YES - airpunch!) - with a 2-cm girth loss in both my glutes and thighs (also in my waist). Deltoids and arms are looking the best ever. I am excited to see this progress and look forward to the next few weeks!

Other Notes: This week has been a TURNING POINT for me - not just with progress, but with my MIND. I have found what I have been missing. I have renewed the fire that I used to have. I have clarity. I have passion. I have focus. I am READY!

April 2, 2011

Day 92: Purpose Has Passion

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

"If God is going to do his deepest work in you, it will begin with this. So give it all to God: your past regrets, your present problems, your future ambitions, your fears, dreams, weaknesses, habits, hurts, and hang ups. Put Jesus Christ in the driver's seat of your life and take your hands off the steering wheel. Don't be afraid; nothing under his control can ever be out of control. Mastered by Christ, you can handle anything." - Rick Warren

TRAINING

Cardio - Run:
3 miles @ 3.5 min/km pace

Cardio - Rollers:
20 min in 39x18 @ 100 rpm

Stretch 22 min.

COMMENTS

Sleep - Time and Quality: Very broken. The first time I woke up I was so lightheaded I could barely stand up. Gradually got better the next few times I woke up, until on my final waking when I decided to get up for good, I was fine.

Mood/Aggression: I feel like I did New Year's week - relaxed and at peace. A definite rarity for me and something I want to hold onto.

Energy: If my 3-mile run is anything to go by, my energy is "wow".

Mental Focus and Clarity: My head has never been clearer.

Endurance: Speed endurance is picking up

Quality of Training: 3-mile run was the fastest I have ever done re pace - for ANY run distance. Whilst it may not be fast for a runner, for me it is. This week my running has improved by leaps and bounds, not just in endurance, but speed (the speed aspect could also be because I am getting lighter). I am beyond stoked about it . . . Rollers for "recovery" afterwards . . . My enjoyment for training has returned this week, to STAY

Recovery: Every time I woke I could feel my body aching from yesterday's resistance session; however, now there is no feeling from it. I completed 20 minutes on the rollers after my 3-mile run for leg recovery - I'm thinking my doing this over the last week after almost every training session has been helping immensely. Doing only one training session "block" a day this week has also helped - looks like I'm going to have to make every third week like this one.

Appetite: This week every other day has been HIGHER than Maintenance, which has been interesting considering that I have made the MOST progress of the last three weeks this week.

Body Composition and Look: Hit 117 pounds this morning - definitely interested in seeing what my body composition is tomorrow, since this week I have seen the most physical progress of the last three weeks.

Other Notes: All my LipoBURN will be gone tomorrow, so it will just be twice daily application of 7-KE until I get some more LipoBURN.

March 31, 2011

Post-Weights Cardio - Run:
3 miles @ 4 min/km

Post-Weights Cardio - Rollers:
20 min in 39x18 @ 100-104 rpm

Stretch 21 min.

COMMENTS

Sleep - Time and Quality: ~5 hours.

Mood/Aggression: Still having deep inner pain issues, but it's amazing what a difference a refreshed and uplifted spirit can make to one's mood!

Energy: I was actually moving as if in slow motion during training, but there was energy and time felt like it was moving slowly even if it wasn't.

Mental Focus and Clarity: I am focused.

Joints: My left wrist actually gave out and collapsed on me during my second set of Push-Ups with the basketballs and it was painful to continue, but continue I did.

Endurance: Great.

Strength: This is not lacking by any means.

Pump: Good.

Vascularity: Loving it!

Quality of Training: I started out with resistance training today, which was different, but good. I felt good, even though I felt like I was moving in slow motion between sets. I had to take a minute after my left wrist fell out from under me (my hand being on a basketball didn't help), and because I didn't want to end my session prematurely, I gritted my teeth and dogged on . . . Cardio was good. Surprising myself with my running pace, because I felt like I was moving like a snail (goes to show how wrong our perception can be!) . . . Finished with the rollers to help my legs recover, since this seems to be the best thing for them these days (not to mention the combination of running and cycling is working on my legs to bring out the definition and lean them up) . . .

Recovery: A little slower re cadence on the rollers for active recovery . . . The way this week is going, it also looks like it will be an "easy" week, with only one training session a day (back to 2-a-days from next week though!) . . .

Body Composition and Look: Hips started popping a little today, and also noticed that my calves are getting more defined again.

Other Notes: I'm making my way through The Purpose Driven Life again - just for some light reading Seriously though, Mum gave me this for my 20th birthday, unknowingly at a time in my life when the message inside it was something I needed to hear and read, and I have read over and over throughout the years - it's one of my top three favourite books. The first time I read it I determined my purpose and every time I read it, that purpose is verified, and I am refreshed, coming back to myself and my roots, to find peace in my soul and what really matters. "Without a purpose, life is motion without meaning, activity without direction, and events without reason. Without a purpose, life is trivial, petty, and pointless." - Rick Warren.

Day 308: My Strengths are also Weaknesses!

Quote of the Day

"God often attaches a major weakness to a major strength . . . God wants to use your weaknesses, not just your strengths . . . Sometimes, however, God turns a strength into a weakness in order to use us even more." - Rick Warren, The Purpose Drive Life

Music Video of the Day

9. Hanging Straight-Leg Raises 1 x 20

Comments

Sleep - Time and Quality: Since I got home from my night work on Thursday, the pain in my stomach has meant the foetal position and passing in and out of sleep until ~1000 this morning.

Energy: I have no energy - the pain is draining any I might have away - and anything I DO do is forced.

Mental Focus and Clarity: Don't really want to concentrate on anything, even though I MUST.

Stress: HIGH!

Joints: Dry, clicking continuing.

Endurance: Fine.

Strength: Less about strength than it was in just getting a session DONE.

Pump: None.

Vascularity: None.

Quality of Training: HIIT was ok . . . Resistance training was ok. Didn't feel like I did anything, because most of my focus - despite trying not to - was on the pain in my stomach . . .

Recovery: Only place that hurts is something I can't fix with rest and recovery.

Other Notes: Stomach pain is a little duller today - at least I can get up and walk around without wanting to scream or just sit right back down and curl up into a tight, little ball. Because I've passed out and forgotten to dose Triazole pre-bed those nights, I have a couple of extra days left on it, and will be finishing on Tuesday instead of tomorrow . . . I also used the last of my current bottle of Lipotrophin-PM yesterday . . .
