Day 289: Making Changes; Settling In

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Do what you want to do for YOU." - Nick Smith

For the complete Motivational, review For YOU | WPM Women.

TRAINING

Been back in training now for a month - this was my second week back doing Maintenance re resistance training; cardio was only ~50% completed for Maintenance, which is not the best, but is going to get better.

Training completed this week:

Shoulders/Hamstrings (1 min recovery between sets - 6 sets per exercise):
1. Behind-the-neck BB Military Press
2. Plate Hammer Raises
3. Single-Arm DB Lateral Raises
4. Stiff-Legged BB Deadlift (BB to touch ground)

Arms/Abs (30 seconds recovery between alternate sets - 4 alternate sets):
Alternate Set A -
1. Close-Grip BB Bicep Curls - a little pain, but in my RIGHT wrist, and only because I sprained it during my boxing pre-weights
2. Dips
Alternate Set B -
3. EZ Bar Bicep Curls - 21s, gritting teeth for the last three sets
4. V-Bar Tricep Push-Downs
Alternate Set C -
5. DB Zottoman Curls - going heavy with these and being ok with it
6. Alternate DB Hammer Curls
Alternate Set D -
7. Rope Crunches
8. Hanging Straight-Leg Raises (toes to touch bar)

Chest/Back (30 seconds recovery between supersets - 4 supersets):
SuperSet A -
1. Supinated BB Bent Over Rows
2. Incline BB Bench Press
SuperSet B -
3. Reverse Rows (feet on bench) - more reps than last week completed each superset
4. Push-Ups (feet on bench, hands on DB)

Full-Body (30 sec recovery between alternate sets and supersets):
Alternate Set A -
1. DB Zottoman Curls 4 x 10
2. Dips 4 x 10
SuperSet A -
3. Alternate DB Hammer Bicep Curls 4 x 10 per side
4. DB Lateral Raises 4 x 10
Alternate Set B -
5. Behind-the-neck BB Military Press 4 x 8
6. BB Military Shoulder Press 4 x 8
Superset B -
7. Push-Ups (on fists) 4 x 10
8. Seated V-Bar Row 4 x 10
Alternate Set C -
9. Rope Crunches 4 x 15
10. Bicycle 4 x 15 per side
Superset C -
11. Reverse Curls (on floor) 4 x 10
12. Alternate Backward Lunges 4 x 10

As with each week over the last month, improving on every session from the same session last week - also decreasing recovery time and changing things up a little. Vascularity and pump give nice definition when I'm lifting weights, and I'm loving the way it looks AND feels.

Cardio hasn't been the best this week, but got all my HIIT sessions in, which is what matters. NEED to start getting my 20 minutes POST-weights in as well, since cardio done at that time makes the MOST difference to my body re leaning.

After this week, I've had to adjust my training schedule yet again, and from next week, I AM returning to my usual first thing in the morning, starting ~4.30am re training, to ensure that I start my day off RIGHT, getting as much as I can done before work, and can better manage an eating schedule with my work demands.

Back to the following re Training Schedule (20-30 minutes stretching on training days done as well, plus 20 minutes of cardio done after EVERY resistance session):

Monday - HIIT Cardio + Shoulders/Hamstrings
Tuesday - 10 min Cardio + Arms/Abs
Wednesday - HIIT Cardio
Thursday - 10 min Cardio + Chest/Back
Friday - HIIT Cardio + Full-Body
Saturday - 20 min Cardio
Sunday - Day OFF

OTHER NOTES

Body Composition now up to 9.4% bodyfat, with little changes in body mass - so very NOT cool! Odd though, because despite that, my upper body re arms, delts, and back continues to look better and better, with more definition and vascularity, appearing as if I am gaining MUSCLE mass as opposed to gaining bodyfat. It could just be a mix of everything though, the body composition measurement coming out like that, since I know that I am retaining a little water because of a moisturizer I started using last week (which is weird, because they usually never do that to me). Hmmm...

Another thing that does not make much sense is that at ~1930 every night, even though it's been >70 degrees Farenheit, I have started shivering and don't stop until I have had a really hot shower. My body really does NOT make any sense - given that I was warm at NEGATIVE 20 degrees Farenheit in the snow, running around in short shorts and a t-shirt. Go figure - shrug.

Left wrist is pretty much 99% ok. Just have to be a little careful with my RIGHT wrist this coming week.

Booked all my flights and hotels for my trips to Florida next month. Going by the "worst", considering myself at 9.4% bodyfat regardless, and forcing the pressure to get to 7-8% bodyfat by the NPC Nationals, where I am going to be doing several photoshoots. The changes my body has gone through over the last few months has been a rollercoaster at best, and I am looking forward to being back to being "me", if that makes any sense. As I mentioned to someone recently, I've done the training for sports performance, power, strength, speed, endurance, gains, etc. - now I am just focused on my fitness and continuing to lean out (I REALLY want to get UNDER 8% bodyfat, since, while I have been 8% bodyfat multiple times, I have never been LESS before, and I am DETERMINED to be!)

Very proud to be a Kiwi (I always am!) right now - it's the All Blacks versus France in the Rugby World Cup Final next week. It's going to be a game to watch and remember. C'mon the black and white!!!

So, bring on next week! I am READY AND PREPARED. I have done everything for everyone else - now I'm focusing on me for ME! God Bless!

Day 130: It's a Journey to Success

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

"You don't gain success from taking one big step. You gain success from taking several smaller steps over a period of time. Small victories. One day you lift your head up and notice that you've already accomplished your goal, and that the satisfaction and happiness was in the journey not the destination." - Nick Smith

10. Bicycles 6 x 30

Post-Weights Cardio - Rollers:
20 min in 39x18 @ 102 rpm

Stretch 23 min.

COMMENTS

Sleep - Time and Quality: Same as yesterday, waking after ~3 hours, getting up and taking my "first thing" supplement doses, and then back to bed, passing out for another hour - didn't feel like I slept that hour at all, but I did, because the clock changed.

Mood/Aggression: More up and down, but mostly up, with many smiles.

Energy: More than yesterday, but not a lot, honestly, and I nearly fell down the stairs (thankfully I didn't) when I went to sit on my rollers after the gym. I just feel completely exhausted - a lot to do with the heat, I believe, since it is stifling and draining; but also some effects from training, since that has been pretty intense.

Mental Focus and Clarity: I have a migraine that makes me not want to do much that requires thinking, but I am pushing past it, because this is an IMPORTANT week and I HAVE to be on the ball for it.

Stress: High.

Joints: My right knee has settled down, with no more pain.

Endurance: Excellent.

Strength: Focus on INTENSITY rather than strength.

Pump: Strong.

Vascularity: Very awesome. Whilst I have more definition (from more muscle and being leaner) in my left side, my right side actually usually has higher vascularity than the former.

Quality of Training: Something different with the CrossRamp pre-weights . . . Resistance training was another 90-minute session. Started out well. Feeling quads after the CrossRamp and Alternate Set A, but moving around with slightly more vigor than yesterday. Migraine started halfway through Alternate Set B, but it didn't bother me as much as yesterday. Didn't have the desire to "stop" today, which was also good. Got nauseous during Alternate Set D, though, and I threw up twice during Alternate Set E (NOT cool). Body was definitely screaming sore afterwards . . . Like yesterday, not feeling like sitting on the rollers when I got home, but I did. I HAVE to just DO it, period! . . .

Recovery: I know that I'm feeling more shattered than usual.

Body Composition and Look: Lighting definitely makes a difference to how one looks - change the lighting and your body can look completely different. Regardless, please with the definition that is getting stronger in my deltoids and arms - now to have that definition (pump and vascularity) that I have when lifting when I am RELAXED (and in photoshoots); just means getting LEANER (which is the goal, since where I am now is not close to where I want to be).

Day 117: HIIT

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Don't let limiting beliefs stop you from becoming or doing what you were meant to do, or who you were meant to be." - Nick Smith

TRAINING

HIIT - Run:
a. 4 min jogging
b. 12 x 20 sec sprint/10 sec easy
c. 10 min jogging

Cardio - Rollers:
20 min in 39x18 @ 110 rpm

Stretch 24 min.

COMMENTS

Sleep - Time and Quality: ~6 hours. Broken.

Mood/Aggression: Staying positive, keeping my spirit uplifted.

Energy: A lot - not sure why, since when I spend less time training, I usually get tired easily.

Mental Focus and Clarity: I've done quite a bit today so far.

Endurance: Great.

Quality of Training: HIIT was perfect. Sprints were fast and pace was quick for the rest of the session. Temperature outside was just right. Rollers afterwards was higher paced than the "usual recovery", but my legs felt fresh

Day 105: Sub-10% bodyfat - to STAY!

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

"If you're uncertain about where the future might lead remember this one, "When we long for life without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure" - It's not what happens to you that matters. It's what you do with what happens that determines your future." - Nick Smith

TRAINING

HIIT - Run:
a. 4 min jogging
b. 12 x 20 sec sprint/10 sec easy
c. 10 min jogging

Full-Body (1 min recovery between trisets):
Triset A -
1. Stiff-Legged BB Deadlifts (BB to touch floor) 4 x 12
2. V-Bar Close-Grip Seated Rows 4 x 10-12
3. Push-Ups (feet on floor, hands on box) 4 x 10-12
Triset B -
4. DB Hammer Raises 4 x 10
5. DB Lateral Raises 4 x 10
6. Seated DB Rear Raises 4 x 10
Triset C -
7. Dips 4 x 10

12. Bicycle 4 x 20

Post-Weights Cardio - Rollers:
20 min in 39x18 @ 100 rpm

Stretch 28 min.

COMMENTS

Mood/Aggression: Still calm. Staying strong.

Energy: Absolutely!

Endurance: Stunning!

Strength: Full-Body sessions are not about strength.

Pump: Strong - as it generally always is on Full-Body session days.

Quality of Training: HIIT was better than good - my speed endurance is definitely improving. Resistance training was a very full hour, with some grimaces and struggling, but overall well done, walking out of the gym with a smile. Rollers was just to help with recovery afterwards.

Recovery: I am not sore anywhere today

Appetite: My body is definitely an interesting specimen. I've been almost perfect with my nutrition this week (with the exception of my meal pre-bed on Wednesday) and progress has slowed. I have noticed this over the last few months, and even moreso over the last 5-6 weeks. The weeks I make the MOST progress re fat loss is when every second day (usually Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) are WAY higher than Maintenance and what everyone else would consider a "cheat"! Ironic. Certainly not the norm or expected, but eh, it works for me, so going to have to work with it.

Body Composition and Look: 115.6 pounds at 9.8% bodyfat. It's not the end of the week yet, I know, but I am going to start having my body composition taken on Fridays (since my competition and most photoshoots fall on a Saturday). So, finally sub-10% bodyfat - and this time I am going to STAY below it, no matter what! Over the last few days I have lost 0.2% bodyfat, 0.2 pounds (although scale weight is not so important), and surprisingly, gained 0.2 inches in my arm girths (with NO change in my arm skinfolds!)

Other Notes: I finish up my current bottle of 7-KE Topical Spray today - meaning that a bottle lasts ~4 weeks at 300mg a day. Not to worry though - I received more 7-KE and LipoBURN (I have missed the LipoBURN) today, so perfect timing.

Day 102: We are Blessed to be a Blessing

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

"When you set your goal, visualize and believe it's already happened. Have belief in conviction in the end result. Put the right attitude and action in. Whatever forces are at bay, make it happen. If you've ever thought about making your dreams a reality, there's no better time than NOW." - Nick Smith

4. Dips 4 x 8

20 min in 39x18 @ 100 rpm

Stretch 26 min.

Session 2

Cardio - Rollers:
20 min in 39x18 @ 104-106 rpm

COMMENTS

Mood/Aggression: Doors are opening; opportunities are being created, made, and given; we are blessed to be a blessing to others.

Energy: Seems endless right now. My mood, mindset, and outlook is having a definite effect on this.

Mental Focus and Clarity: I have so much to think about and contemplate - life is starting to pick up the pace again and I'm ready to run with it!

Stress: High.

Libido: High and very random.

Joints: Left ankle was reminding me pre-weights that it's still tender, so I cut the distance back a little (and my cardio tonight will not place stress on my ankles). Left wrist has been very tight today, limited movement and slightly painful. Back is also tight, but the lesser of all the pains.

Endurance: Great.

Strength: This session was not so much about the weight.

Pump: Strong.

Vascularity: My left arm/side displays more muscle and definition than my right, and my right arm/side always has that noticeable difference with more prominent vascularity - all very interesting.

Quality of Training: Session 1 - Pre-weights run was ok. Resistance training was good - a few switches being made, my body preferring the longer session over the shorter ones that I have been doing the last few weeks (so definitely going back to the longer ones). Rollers was to help my legs out a little, since some DOMS in right hamstring after yesterday . . . Session 2 - Rollers at a slightly higher pace than I have been doing post-weights. The 39x18 gear seems to be the best at helping with my legs and definition without adding mass, so sticking with it. Because I have had a painful stomach I am going to do Abs tomorrow after HIIT . . .

Recovery: Right hamstring is tight, with a little DOMS after yesterday, but it's not really an issue. Passed out for about an hour mid-evening, showing how much the resistance session took out of me (could also have been contributed to with my stomach as well).

Other Notes: I started reading Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist today (recommended by Fran, who's just finished reading it). It's good so far - definitely a fitting book after going through Rick Warren's The Purpose Driven Life (which I am continuing to go back through as well).

Day 8: Lose Your Fear!

Quote of the Day

"Life is too big for playing small, and when we minimize ourselves, we only minimize those around us. When we relinquish our own fears of shining we allow others to shine too." - Nick Smith

Music Video of the Day

Sevendust - Xmas Day

2. Alternate Backward Lunges 2 x 10 per leg

3. DB Clean and Press 2 x 8, 6
4. DB Hammer Raises 2 x 8, 6
Superset C -
5. EZ-Bar Bicep Curls 2 x 8
6. Flat Close-Grip BB Bench Press 2 x 5
Superset D -
7. Incline DB Bench Press 2 x 10
8. Single-Leg Deadlifts 2 x 10 per leg
Superset E -
9. Rope Crunch 2 x 10
10. Plank 2 x 1 min

Post-Weights Cardio - Treadmill:
7 x 1 min @ 14.4 km/hr / 30 sec rest

Stretch 20 min.

Comments

Sleep - Time and Quality: Went to bed early-ish last night, and slept for 7-8 hours, waking groggy, but able to get up after ~10 minutes. Felt like absolute sh*t getting up.

Mood/Aggression: Up and down - getting really frustrated and pissed off, not just at being sick, but at being tied down.

Energy: Actually, had energy - I dosed Blue Arctic Raspberry Assault ~30 minutes before cardio (~60 minutes pre-weights), and was quite surprised by the steady flow of energy that it provided (more notes on it in the following post).

Mental Focus and Clarity: My mind is nothing but alert, moving at a million miles an hour.

Stress: THIS is one thing that I am going to CONQUER this year - SOME stress is conducive to progress, but too much is just detrimental to achieving results, and I've been in the red for far too long!

Libido: Taking all my aggression and frustration out during training.

Joints: Left wrist aching.

Endurance: Great.

Strength: Lower reps, heavier weight - struggling, especially with the Close-Grip Pull-Ups (WTF?!), but I AM going to get back to where I was!

Pump: Some.

Vascularity: Needs to be more constant - here and there during resistance training.

Quality of Training: Stepper was good. Sweating slightly more than normal - whether the fever (better to sweat it out) or the Assault or a mixture of both I don't know. Upped the pace a little - my body has been getting too complacent and it's time to give it a good kick in the arse! . . . Resistance training was shorter today - letting me lift heavier. Seriously struggling with my Close-Grip Pull-Ups, which I was not pleased with and wanted to kick the wall in frustration over, but controlled myself and just kept going. My face was flushed when I started lifting weights, but by Superset C, my face was pale and my hands were PURPLE (WTF?!) Pushed through . . . Decided to punish my body with a few treadmill efforts. My throat was raw and dry, but for some reason, my legs and body didn't find it as hard as it should have, and leaving the gym, my legs felt GREAT . . .

Recovery: I feel good.

Body Composition and Look: Weight continues to plummet - down to 111.8 pounds. I need to start eating more consistently soon (don't know why I have no appetite, since it is just NOT like me!) - stop my weight plummeting, my strength being affected, and becoming catabolic.

Other Notes: Still coughing up blood, my throat raw and my chest hurting. The coughing during the day and night is as annoying as the constant whine of the cat and is seriously pissing me off. Need to keep my fluids high, high-dose Vitamin C, and make sure I keep the BC+EAA coming.

Comments

Sleep - Time and Quality: Only been getting 3-4 hours of sleep most nights - which is fine. Going to have to start the 1-2 hour naps later in the day if I can get them in.

Mood/Aggression: Great

Energy: Surprisingly, I feel drained. It's not just training sapping my energy - I walked for ~2 hours today, and have spent the last few days doing a lot of walking in the cold, and when one is no longer used to it, it can be tiring, especially if not eating enough - which is another big thing probably. Another interesting thing to note is that my energy seems the most drained later in the day, after taking a second dose of stacked stimulants.

Mental Focus and Clarity: There. Making up for the last few days of limited access.

Stress: Actually, it's the lowest it has been in a LONG time. A break definitely does one good, and I'm glad I made the time for it!

Libido: HIGH - it's very frustrating, damnit!

Joints: My left wrist has been aching a lot more than usual - need me some more Erase!

Endurance: Ok - since I can't run outside (well, won't risk falling on the ice and injuring myself), I have been running on the treadmill, and yes, definitely different to outdoor running. The pace does not falter, and it has seemed to be taking a lot more out of me than usual . . . Also odd is the fact that my resistance sessions seem to be taking a lot out of me - they're not even HALF the period that last week's ones were! . . .

Strength: Today's session was pretty bad for Superset A - I haven't had a strength loss like that in a long time (although, in saying that,I'm probably a good 5-10 pounds heavier than last time I did it, so that would make a difference, but still . . .) Strength could be better, but for now, it'll have to do.

Pump: Definitely getting it high in the gym - particularly in anterior deltoids and triceps.

Vascularity: Through deltoids and chest.

Quality of Training: Training has been fine the last few days - had my day off at the end of last week, and going strong back on schedule again . . . Training today was good. Glad I didn't do a Post-Weights Cardio session, though - my legs were hurting enough as it is from the walk, LOL . . .

Recovery: I can feel my hips and glutes for some odd reason.

Body Composition and Look: I am in mixed minds over this. In the gym I feel that I look soft, yet sometimes can be hard (especially if got a good pump going on - which it has been the last couple of days). So very far from where I want to be - I can only know that I'll get there within the time-frame I have, though.

Other Notes: Had my last dose of Recompadrol this morning, and run out of BLACK CATS tomorrow. So, I will officially be withOUT stimulants from Thursday, which shall be interesting . . . Going to have to up the Vitamin C intake and be careful of the cold (and it HAS been cold the last few days) . . .

b. 8 x 40 sec effort/20 sec easy
c. 4 min easy

Superset A -
1. Close-Grip Pull-Ups 4 x 22, 12, 11, 10
2. Bicep Curls 4 x 10

Comments

Stress: My stress is up and down, depending on the areas of my life. Taking steps to minimize the stress in the big areas, and managing the other stuff as I can.

Endurance: Great.

Strength: As can be seen from the session, better than last week.

Pump: Hard.

Vascularity: The best it has been in a long, long time.

Quality of Training: HIIT was great . . . Resistance training was painful, but making it harder and more intense than last week made me feel better . . .

Body Composition and Look: Just to show how much my bodyweight fluctuates, today I am 116.6 pounds.

Other Notes: My current bottle of Alpha-T2 finishes today, but I will be starting more as soon as my new one arrives . . . Plus, I have two photoshoots with Walt Ostarly next year, and plan on working with Johnny Crosslin as well - so EXCITED! . . .

Initial Impressions of LG Sciences' Topical 7-keto DHEA

Day 305: Improvising

Quote of the Day

"This is a lifestyle. Motivation doesn’t come into the equation." - Nick Smith

Music Video of the Day

The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Something different today - and because the cartoons rock!

Training

HIIT Cardio:
a. 4 min jogging
b. 8 x 20 sec efforts/10 sec easy
c. 4 min jogging
d. 8 x 20 sec effort/10 sec easy
e. 11 min jogging

Stretch 25 min.

Comments

Mood/Aggression: Some excitement, but generally too exhausted to be anything much.

Energy: Exhausted.

Mental Focus and Clarity: Work and study today - got to find it somewhere.

Stress: High.

Endurance: Fine.

Quality of Training: HIIT was the SLOWEST I have done in a LONG time - my body just didn't want to be moving (at least I didn't feel like throwing up - like yesterday). Because of how I feel and knowing that forcing a resistance session, no matter how short or light, will just make me feel even worse for tomorrow, I am improvising and just doing a cardio session today and will do today's resistance session tomorrow.

Recovery: Not doing so well this week. Hope I am back to being right tomorrow!
