2013 | Day 52: YOUR WINGS

It matters not what MIGHT happen, for life does not always heed the desperate prayers of our hearts, and sometimes we can find our dreams tossed aside, out of control of the result. What matters is what you DO about it. You can choose to wallow in self-pity or you can see it as an opportunity to start over, new and fresh, a chance to spread your wings and see if you can FLY.

We ALL have wings. Just not everyone USES them. Maybe you’ve let yours be cut off, but they can always grow BACK. Maybe they’ve been clipped for a while, but now when you stretch them you feel the new STRENGTH in them. Maybe they’ve been open, but you’ve never risked taking OFF to try them out. Maybe you HAVE been flying, but something just knocked you out of the sky.

If you were flying, maybe you were alone or flying WITH another. Another who challenged you to fly HIGHER, to be BETTER, to see the beauty in the sunrise from such heights. But now they are GONE or nowhere to be found. You cannot rely on them to keep you GOING, to keep you pushing forward, to keep you striving to fly higher. You must do it for YOURSELF.

If a lightning bolt struck you down in the midst of a thunderstorm and you’re lying broken, battered, and torn on the muddy ground, you HAVE to get back UP and fix your wings. You have to MEND them. You need to HEAL and only YOU can do that, because only you know what you need.

No one knows how long it will take to mend your broken wings, but you have to at least TRY, for if you don’t you are only short-changing YOURSELF. No one else can do it for you. You have to CHOOSE to rebuild what has been broken and then have the COURGAE to spread your wings and fly again. No matter what you know might happen when you do.
